Briquettes
Uniform pillow-shaped charcoal pucks made from compressed sawdust, char, and binders. Burn longer and steadier than lump.
Charcoal briquettes (Kingsford, Royal Oak) are manufactured from char, sawdust, starch binders, and sometimes accelerants. They burn cooler than lump but more predictably and for longer — perfect for the snake method or any low-and-slow cook on a kettle. Some brands (Kingsford Original) include additives that produce more ash; Kingsford Professional and Weber briquettes are cleaner.
