Blackstone 36 Low Flame: Causes and Fixes

A four-burner Blackstone 36 that suddenly produces short, lazy flames across every burner is rarely broken. On propane griddles the overwhelmingly common cause is the excess-flow safety device in the cylinder coupling throttling gas after an incorrect connection sequence — and it resets in about two minutes.

1. Check fuel and valve position

2. Reset the regulator

Never test for gas leaks with a flame. Brush a 50/50 solution of dish soap and water onto fittings with the gas turned on — growing bubbles mean a leak. Shut the cylinder valve immediately if you find one.

4. Clear burner ports and venturi tubes
