What to Look For
Ceramic kamados (BGE, Kamado Joe) hold heat better, are more fuel-efficient, and last longer — but they're heavy and fragile. Steel kamados (Char-Griller Akorn) are lighter, cheaper, and more durable to bumps but less heat-efficient. For long cooks ceramic wins; for portability and budget steel makes sense.
