Pit Boss 850 Temperature Swings: Causes and Fixes

Some cycling is designed behaviour on any pellet grill: the controller feeds pellets in pulses and the temperature moves around the setpoint. Swings of 20–30°F are normal. Swings of 75–150°F, or a grill that overshoots and then stalls, indicate a specific and fixable cause — and on the 850-series the sliding flame broiler is a frequent culprit that other brands do not have.
