The reason this matters: propane is heavier than air. A canister with a slow leak in a below-deck locker does not vent — the gas sinks, collects in the bilge, and sits there waiting for a spark from a bilge pump or a starter motor. That is the mechanism behind most propane incidents on boats.
The rule is simple. Fuel lives on deck, secured and upright, or in a dedicated locker that is sealed from the interior and drains overboard. Not in a lazarette that drains into the bilge. Not in a cabin. Not in a cockpit locker.
This bracket handles the on-deck version. It holds the canister upright — which matters, because an inverted canister can pass liquid propane to the regulator — and stops it moving underway.
Installation is a rail clamp or four screws into a bulkhead. Use 316 stainless fasteners and bed them in sealant; anything else will bleed rust streaks.
Build quality is adequate rather than impressive for $25, and that is the one criticism. But the alternative is a canister rolling around your cockpit, so the value calculation is not close.
Practical planning note: a 1 lb canister gives roughly 90 minutes of cooking at full output, less in wind. Carry one more than you think you need.
