The Full Review

The Tailgater 20 is Traeger acknowledging that pellet grills don't have to live on a back patio. Folded down, it fits in any vehicle. Set up in five minutes at a tailgate or campsite. Plug it into a portable power station or RV outlet and you're smoking pulled pork in the parking lot.

The 300 sq in cooking area is generous for a portable. 12 burgers, 4 racks of ribs, or a 10-lb pork shoulder all fit. That's enough for a real tailgate spread for 8-10 people.

The 8 lb hopper is the real limitation. At 225°F for smoking, you get 4-5 hours before refilling. For burgers and brats, no problem. For brisket, you're refilling halfway through.

No WiFi is annoying at this price. The Pro Series and Ironwood both have it; the Tailgater doesn't. You're stuck with the controller display.

AC power requirement means you need an outlet or a portable power station ($300+ for a unit big enough to run the grill all day). At a campsite, this matters.
