The Full Review
The levelling ball joint is the entire product. A generic bracket holds the grill at whatever angle your rail happens to sit at, and every time the boat rolls the grease runs to one corner and out. The Magma joint lets you set the grill flat and lock it there, and it stays flat through moderate chop.
Sizing is the thing people get wrong. Marine rails come in three common outside diameters and the clamp is machined to one of them. Measure with calipers before you order. A quarter inch off and the clamp will not close on the rail.
Material is 316, which matters here as much as it does on the grill itself. A 304 clamp bleeding rust onto white gelcoat is a stain you will be scrubbing for two seasons.
The practical limit is your rail, not the mount. If your stanchions flex when you lean on them, a 25 lb grill plus a canister hanging outboard will flex them more. Check the backing plates under the deck first.
One omission: there is no tether. Add a short stainless lanyard between the grill body and the mount yourself. Mounts fail, and a grill going over the side at speed is gone.
